BREAKING: IHEDIOHA WINS IMO – PDP & OTHERS VERY JUBILANT

Emeka Ihedioha

IHEDIOHA IS THE NEW GOVERNOR OF IMO STATE

THIS NEWS IS BREAKING – PLEASE, CHECK BACK OFTEN FOR MORE UPDATES.

Imo state has a new governor in the person of H.E  Rt Hon Emeka Ihedioha of PDP.

Imolites were left in limbo as two days went bye after the March 9, 2019 gubernatorial and state house of Assembly elections and the results were still not announced. The collation process at the INEC state headquarters was tense as it was interrupted at least three times before the final effort to report and announce results from all 27 local government Areas of the State.

At the end, Ihedioha had the majority of the vote (about 273,000) with over 83,000 votes separating him and the closest rival, Uche Nwosu (about 114,000) of the Action Alliance (AA) and an inlaw to the current Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha. Sen. Ifeanyichukwu Araraume of APGA came in 3rd place with about 114,000 votes. Sen Hope Uzodinma of the APC came 4th in the contest.

INEC made the declaration just about midnight in Nigeria despite a push back from Uche Nwosu (AA) and the APC who are reportedly scrambling to force a runoff by challenging vote results in a few of the LGAs so they can push Ihedioha’s numbers to go below the 25% threshold required to be had in at least 2/3 (18) of the 27 LGAs in Imo.

The election was mared with violence and rigging at different levels mostly attributed to the Uche Nwosu and Hope Uzodinma camps. Majority of Imolites feel elated with Ihedioha’s victory as they express relief from the many years of what they consider “Rochas Okorocha’s hell”. Many speculated that Rochas was hell bent on making Uche Nwosu, his inlaw and Chief of staff,  the governor so he was could help cover up for him whenever there’s any auditing or investigation on Rochas’ admin. Ihedioha on the other hand has promised to vigorously prosecute all crimes committed by the past government against Imolites.

While many posited that Orlu and Okigwe zones of Imo state had produced the most governors and tbought this should be a chance for Owerri zone to produce one in the person of Ihedioha (From Mbaise, Owerri zone), they also felt they needed badly to repudiate the many years of what they see as the Rochas Okorocha failures . Many also believed that electing Uche Nwosu, Rochas’ inlaw, would just simply mean a continuation of some of what they believe to be disastrous Rochas Policies. It is believed thatRochas and Uzodinma camps, tryong to counter the Ihedioha surge, pushed Forth the “Mbaise factor”, stoking up old stereotypical fears that an “Mbaise man” (Ihedioha) can never be trusted. According to Dr Okwe, attached to the We4We TV affiliated ELECTIONS OPTICS, “the Uche Nwosu and Hope Uzodinma camps, in my estimation, spent a little too much time pushing the “Mbaise factor” instead of addressing the real concerns of the people and in the end, Imolites rejected unfounded traditional stereotypes and embraced the TRUTH”

This election was widely believed to be the costliest election in Imo history with uche Nwosu and Hope Uzodinma spending the most, especially on amassing thugs, election officials and law enforcement personell bribing and other rigging methods.

Congratulations to Emeka Ihedioha and the PDP.
