Rejig security architecture, YYF tells Buhari

The group also called on Buhari to stop attacking former President Olusegun Obasanjo, saying Nigerians are wise enough to see the attack on the renowned pan Nigerian as a diversionary measure.

YYF in a statement on Sunday and signed by its President,  Abiodun Bolarinwa, said the issue of insecurity in the country deserved serious attention from the Federal Government.

It, however, claimed that President Buhari was only paying lip service to the security of lives and properties of Nigerians.

“It is very sad that President Muhammadu Buhari has not been able to find solution to the killings and other forms of insecurity ravaging the country.

“We, on our part, condemn the daily killing of innocent Nigerians in Taraba and other states of the federation and called on the perpetrators of the dastardly acts to stop the trend.

“We also called on President Muhammadu Buhari who is the Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces to rejig the country’s security architecture.

“We found President Buhari’s attack on Chief  Obasanjo as a diversionary tactic. We believe the issue of insecurity bedevilling the nation does not leave room for such frivolities,” YYF said.

YYF in the release also called on the South-West monarchs to be vigilant and ensure peaceful co-existence within their domains.

It urged the monarchs to ensure proper community policing and watch out for the influx of bandits into their territories, saying when they noticed such they should immediately alert the security agents.

The Yoruba Youth Group also pledged its loyalty and support to the new Yoruba leader, Prof. Adebanji Akintoye.

YYF urged Akintoye to use his position to cement unity among Yoruba at home and in the Diaspora and works towards their development.
