Martin Luther King’s day ( Monday, January 21, 2019) was super hot in the city of Newark, New Jersey USA as H.E Peter Obi, the PDP Vice presidential candidate in Nigeria 2019 and former governor of Anambra State, Nigeria was honoured with a Newark City Council resolution and a welcome letter from its Mayor, Hon. Ras J Baraka. Both honours were presented by the Deputy Mayor of Newark, Ugochukwu Nwaokoro, an illustrious Nigerian American whose testimonial remark on Peter Obi set off a thunderous applause. He remarked, “His Excellency, Mr. Peter Obi, to me. And put it on record. I see him as the most honest Nigerian Politician”

The Town hall meeting was held at the Best Western Robert Treat Hotel. With over five hundred people in attendance and Peter Obi appearing and acknowledging the crowd via satellite, “it was a love fest” as described by Abe Festus, a PDP USA, NJ branch Youth Leader. The Chairman of the Newly inaugurated NJ chapter of the PDP USA, Ebenezer Oluseye Gbaroye encouraged all Nigerians in the Diaspora to remind their “loved ones back home the importance of voting the Atiku/Obi ticket into power”. Dr. Molokwu, PDP USA chairman during his speech asserted that “Atiku and Obi (ticket), as of today, is the best hope for Nigeria”
Mustapha Chike-Obi, alongside Dr Balogun Chike-Obi helped answer some of the questions from the audience. Balogun Chike-Obi, Michael Okaka and Georges Ekwensi lead a group, “Friends Of Peter Obi” (F.O.P.O) that put the event together. Deputy Mayor Ugochukwu Nwaokoro of the host City of Newark, NJ also helped in coordinating. The F.O.P.O members includes Dr Balogun Chike-Obi, Mike Okaka, Georges Chiedu Ekwensi, Ugochukwu Nwaokoro, Prof. Mondy Gold, Dr. Ifem E.Orji, Chief Sam Agulefo (Aniebuya of Ogidi), Moses Adedeji, Dr Nelson Aluya, H.R.H Rev Dr Prince A.Z.K Adekoya, Igwe Nkem Onumarah, Val Frakas Mo’Fire Amadi, Amb.
