Vice President Yemi Osinbajo is expected to be the special guest of honour at the University of Lagos Alumni Association’s 50th anniversary holding in October, 2019.
The UNILAG Alumni President, Dr John Momoh, said the association had been working to raise the bar of academics at the institution, noting that UNILAG was recently recognised as the best tertiary institution in Nigeria.
Speaking during a courtesy call on the Chairman, Nigerians in Diaspora Commission, Abike Dabiri-Erewa, in Abuja on Wednesday, Momoh who was represented by his Vice President, Chief Fasi Yusuf, said the association had inaugurated several projects in the school.
The projects, he said, included a 500-bedroom hostel and other infrastructure initiatives meant to enhance the school environment.
Momoh lauded Dabiri-Erewa on the roles she was playing in protecting Nigerians in the diaspora, adding that the alumni was willing to partner NIDCOM in the area of research and other technical support.
Dabiri-Erewa condoled with Momoh over the death of a youth corps member, Precious Owolabi, serving with Channels TV, who was killed by stray bullets during a Shi’ites protest in Abuja on Monday.
