Madam Catherine Chiatuogu Onyeukwu Clocks 80

 

A Thanksgiving Church service and a huge gathering and celebration after the service capped events that ran for days.

On Sunday, January 1st, 2023, Madam Onyeukwu Catherine Chiatuogu nee Nzewuihe of Umuogba, Umudoche, Umuoma, Nekede, Owerri West L.G.A was celebrated by her very loving children, loved ones, family members, friends and well wishers as she clocked 80. it is indeed a milestone.

The festivities which lasted for a few days were capped by a church Thanksgiving service at the Holy Trinity Anglican Church, Nekede by 10 am. Right after the church service, the activities and events proceeded to her compound where a lot of people were hosted very well by the family. Smiles were on the faces of many as they ate, danced and listened to very i refreshing memories of Madam Onyeukwu’s as Shared by her family and loved ones.

She was married to Pa Onyeukwu Geoffrey Ukwengawunwa of Umungudu in Umuogba, Umudoche, Umuoma Nekede who recently passed away as the oldest man in Nekede, having crossed the  Century (100 years) mark by many years. She’s now an Octogenarian (Over 80 years old) herself and that’s very remarkable. The children are lucky indeed to have inherited these sets of strong health and longevity genes.

Before marriage, Madam Onyeukwu hailed from Umudozie, Mpama, Egbu, Owerri North LGA of Imo State.
As a very enterprising lady, She engaged in several trades while assisting her husband in making ends meets for the family. She sold fresh fish (Azụ ndụ) in bulk to several dealers and in  several markets.  She was the chief Chef of Nekede Secondary School where she also helped in security employment and various forms of empowerment for several men and women of her community.

Her children are;
Onyeukwu Victor Chiagoro, Mrs Dorothy Okonkwo nee Onyeukwu, Mr Onyeukwu Ndubuisi Edwin, Barrister Chinedu Onyeukwu, Mrs Onyekachi Rosemary Akasoro nee Onyeukwu, Mrs Chinyere Eze nee Onyeukwu, Comrade Onyeukwu Obinna.

She’s a dedicated church worker at the Holy Trinity Anglican Church, Nekede and a a long term member of the Anglican Church’s “Women’s Guild”. She received numerous community and church awards, including the  “Ezi Nne”, “Golden Mother”,
abd “Diamond Mother” honors. She’s also the Chair Lady of Umudoche Women Association and a Treasurer of so many Associations, further demonstrating her high level of integrity and dedication to service.

Alex Ojiri (Emeritus Mayor of Owerri Municipal Council), Chigozie Okere (a We4We Media Community Liaisons Director), Udoka ‘Prince Leke’ Uwaleke (D.G, PDP New Media, Owerri West LGA, Imo State) and several others were on hand to witness the birthday celebrations. Val Amadi expressed “joy that the children and her loved ones are celebrating her while she’s alive and not at death. She’s accomplished a lot for herself and her family and they’re very elated to have her as a mom. She’s an Octogenarian (80 years old and counting)and I’m sure, just like her husband, would observe her Centenary (100 years). God bless the family, the friends and all loved ones.”

Our correspondents caught up with one of her sons, Comrade Obinna Onyeukwu (Emeritus Welfare Chairman of Umuogba, Umuoma, Nekede) and asked what Mama’s wishes for her children are and he said, “Mama wishes that none of her children will die before her.
She always wants the best for her children, even the children from other parents.
She is a peaceful, accomodating and a very  loving woman”
