Ruiz captured the WBO, WBA, IBF, IBO world titles when he shocked the boxing world when he dropped Joshua four times, before the contest was stopped back on June 1 at Madison Square Garden in New York City.
The rematch is set for December 7th, in the neutral location of Saudi Arabia.
Hearn has warned his own fighter, that he must stay very focused if he intends to overcome his first career defeat.
The first time around, Ruiz was viewed as a massive underdog. That won’t be the case in the rematch – which is why Hearn expects the contest to be a huge event.
“I think he’s just got to snap out of it. I think he was disillusioned with the sport because he wanted to fight Deontay Wilder. He couldn’t get that fight and as he said in the interview, he didn’t really want to fight Andy Ruiz. But tough, you fought him and you fought a real hungry guy,” Hearn told Sky Sports.
“I think the great thing about this promotion is that now, for the first time next week, he looks a man in the eyes who is the only man to beat him as a professional. It’s going to be absolutely huge. The whole world will stop to watch this fight.”
Joshua was a very calm fighter in the lead-up to the first contest. This time around, Hearn cautions that his boxer is looking for blood and wants to put Ruiz to sleep.
“He doesn’t even want to talk to him, he wants to knock him clean out,” Hearn said. “He didn’t have that feeling last time but it’s a new game now, a new game. Josh wants to take his head off.”
