Herdsmen vs farmers: Miyetti Allah bans night grazing of cattle

The Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria, MACBAN, has taken some serious measures to put an end to the persistent crisis between herdsmen and farmers across the country.

MACBAN placed a ban on night grazing by cattle nationwide as part of measures to put an end to the crisis.

This was disclosed by MACBAN’s National Secretary, Baba Uthman, while addressing journalists after the association’s Annual General Meeting in Damaturu, Yobe State, yesterday.

Uthman explained that the decision would be communicated to every member of the group, including those at the grassroots.

He also disclosed that a ban has been placed on grazing by minors and hawking of milk by teenage girls.

Uthman said these are the causes of cultural abuse and poses dangers to the underage.

He said: “This is a decision that has been taken by the highest decision-making body of the association. As it is taken here, it will go down the ladder down to our members at the grassroots.

“They will be informed and sensitised concerning it.”
