Former Governor of Enugu State, Senator Dr. Chimaroke Nnamani has won the Enugu East Senatorial Election conducted on Saturday.
The results were announced Monday morning by the INEC returning officer, Prof. Aloysius Okoli.
He said “we did everything possible to make sure that every vote counted.
“I affirm that the election was conducted and candidates polled different votes,” he said.
Okoli declared Nnamani elected having scored the highest votes and satisfied all constitutional requirements.
The figures showed that Nnamani of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, polled a total of 128,843 votes.
Trailing far behind is Prince Lawrence Eze of the All Progressives Congress, APC, who got 14,225 votes.
The candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, Uchenna Egbo came third with 1,586 votes.
