CAF, NFF, Chelsea hail Mikel on 33rd birthday

The Nigeria Football Federation has hailed former captain of the Super Eagles Mikel Obi on his 33rd birthday via its Twitter handle.

Mikel was born on April 22, 1987.

The midfielder played most of his club football for Chelsea in the English Premier League and won numerous awards.

He won two Premier League titles, three FA Cups, one Football League Cup and one FA Community Shield.

He also won the UEFA Champions League and the Europa League.

The NFF wrote, “A big birthday shout out to former @NGSuperEagles captain and #AFCON2013 winner, @mikel_john_obi. Thank you for the memories and do have a good one.”

Also, the Confederation of African Football on its Twitter handle celebrated the Nigerian online.

CAF stated on Twitter, “Former national team captain, Trophy 2013 #TotalAFCON winner, Three third-place medals, Happy Birthday to Nigeria’s retired midfielder John Obi Mikel!”

Also, Chelsea on its Twitter handle stated, “The birthday boy! Party popper. Have a great day @Mikel_John_Obi!

The Beijing 2016 Olympics bronze medalist was recently linked with a move to Botafogo, after he quit Turkish side, Trabzonspor, in March.
