Buhari jittery over Atiku’s popularity –PDP

The Peoples Democratic Party has said the campaign team of President Muhammadu Buhari is accusing the United States, European Union and  United Kingdom of supporting its candidate Alhaji Atiku Abubakar because the President is afraid of defeat in  Saturday’s presidential poll.

The National Publicity Secretary of the PDP Kola Ologbondiyan made the claim during a press conference in Lagos on Tuesday.

He said, “The  Buhari campaign team’s allegation that the US, UK and  EU  are supporting Alhaji Atiku Abubakar has confirmed that they are jittery already. They are jittery because of Atiku’s popularity. This is somebody they said could not enter the US a  few weeks ago.

“If their allegation against the superpowers is true,  then even the ECOWAS is supporting Atiku. They know that Buhari cannot lead the sub-region because he lacks the capacity to do so.

“The APC has  been campaigning for our candidate with their claim that the superpowers are supporting Atiku and it is good.”

The PDP chief also accused the ruling party of dictating to the Independent  National Electoral Commission, saying the opposition party had raised many issues but the APC told the commission to ignore their concerns.

He also alleged that the APC was planning to rig the elections with the new method of simultaneous accreditation and voting.

Ologbondiyan  said the method of first and voting later would prevent multiple voting but said INEC had insisted on dropping the method which he said Buhari commended when he won the 2015 presidential election.

He claimed INEC had only upgraded the card readers in Ekiti and Osun states where governorship elections were held in 2018.
