Bishop tells Buhari what to do

Rt. Rev’d. Hillary Nanman Dachelem, the Catholic Bishop of Bauchi Diocese, has advised the winner of the 2019 presidential election, Muhamadu Buhari, not to take the mandate given to him by Nigerians for granted.

Dachelem spoke with reporters yesterday, in Bauchi, on the sidelines of the Ash Wednesday service.

According to him, there was the need for Nigerians to thank God for the re-election of Buhari.

He also urged Christians to fast and pray for peace, unity and stability of the country during the Lenten period.

He said, “We should all cooperate with him and move on because he is not going to be there forever.

“On his part, in spite of his shortcomings, too, God has brought him back, probably to correct some of the errors he might have made in his first tenure.

“He should thank God for his victory, but he should not take it for granted.”

The bishop expressed gratitude to God for what he observed as a generally peaceful conduct of the exercise.

He, however, warned politicians against do-or-die politics.
