Aisha Buhari backs brother’s opponent in Adamawa gov poll

Aisha, wife of  President Muhammadu  Buhari, has called on Adamawa State voters  to  vote for  Governor Mohammed Bindow in the  March 2 governorship poll in the state.

She also pleaded with them to vote for her husband in the February 16  presidential election.

Mrs Buhari, who is the chairperson of the All Progressives Congress  Women and Youth Presidential Campaign Team, made the plea at a campaign rally in Yola on Friday.

Represented by a former military administrator of Lagos State and Chairman of the Central Working Committee of the team,  Mohammed Buba Marwa,  Mrs  Buhari urged the people to vote for the APC at all levels in the elections for their benefits.

She also urged the APC stakeholders in the state to “put aside your differences and grievances to support the party and our governorship candidate, Mohammed  Bindow, as well as other APC contestants to clinch the state”.

She  added, “The fact that my younger brother (Dr Halilu Modibbo) competed  in  the  APC governorship primary which brought about the emergence of Bindow as the governorship candidate of the party in Adamawa State doesn’t mean that I’m not going to support  Bindow.

“Bindow and Modibbo are  the same to me and they are  my younger brothers. We should play politics with maturity and tolerance for the future of our dear state and our nation.”

She praised the APC government for fighting corruption and tackling the  Boko Haram insurgency in the North-East.

Mrs Buhari said that the fight against corruption had  positively impacted on the economy of the nation.

However, she advised Nigerians to stay away from activities that could threaten the peace of the nation before, during and after the elections.
