Alex Iwobi says the Super Eagles are in a buoyant mood ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup playoffs.
The Super Eagles missed out on automatic qualification for the global tournament after finishing second in Group C behind South Africa’s Bafana Bafana.
The three-time African champions now face a challenging path to the finals, competing against Gabon, Cameroon, and the Democratic Republic of Congo for a place in the intercontinental play-offs.
Eric Chelle’s side will take on the Gabonese Panthers in the semi-final of the play-offs on Thursday. Should they progress, the Super Eagles will face either Cameroon or the Democratic Republic of Congo in the final on Sunday.
Iwobi, who currently plays for Premier League club Fulham, is confident the team will succeed.
“Giving ourselves another chance to go into the World Cup, the confidence is high,” Iwobi told BBC Sport Africa.
“I’ve been in one [Russia 2018]; I would like to be in one again.”
