Police rescue kidnapped Benue medical doctor

The Benue State Police Command has rescued a medical doctor,  Emmanuel Orhembe three days after he was abducted.

The command spokesperson, Catherine Anene (a deputy superintendent of police, who disclosed this to journalists on Tuesday, confirmed that the doctor spent three days in kidnappers’ den.

She added that the medical doctor, who practises at a hospital in Gboko, was found and rescued from kidnappers den in Mbayior forest by Operation Zenda, led by SP Justin Gberindyer.

The PPRO said that the men of Operation Zenda engaged the kidnappers in a gun duel killing three of the kidnappers while others fled with bullet wounds.

Narrating his ordeals, Orhember, who appreciated the Police Commissioner, Garba Mukkadas for the quick intervention, said, “I was made to lie down on the ground, they beat hell out of me; in the process, they bruised my head with iron and ankle, one of them shot me in the leg, asking me to provide money.”
