
The Jigawa State Police Command said it has intercepted a white Toyota Hilux vehicle belonging to the Kano Electricity Distribution Company, KEDCO, suspected to be stolen.
Lawan Adam, Police Public Relations Officer, Jigawa State Command made this known in a statement issued on Monday.
He said, policemen of the Safer Highway Patrol Team stationed around Gidan Lage, Ringim Local Government Area, in collaboration with the Vigilante Group of Nigeria recovered the vehicle.
He said the suspect abandoned the vehicle and fled the scene, after sighting a patrol team, taking advantage of the nearby bush terrain, noting that despite efforts to apprehend the fleeing suspect, he escaped arrest.
The recovered vehicle has since been secured at the police station for further investigation, while efforts are ongoing to trace and apprehend the suspect responsible for the theft.
Meanwhile, the team has also intercepted a golden Toyota Corolla LE with reg. no. KBT 932 TJ, and arrested one Muhammad Muhammad of Tudun Wada, Bayan Gidan Sarki, Gombe State.
He also appealed to members of the public to continue to provide useful information that could assist the police in tracking down criminal elements.
He said, the Jigawa State Police Command remains committed to ensuring a peaceful and secure environment for all residents and will continue to intensify patrols and surveillance across the state.
