Iran has executed a man accused of spying for Israel’s foreign intelligence agency amid escalating tensions and continued violence across the Middle East.
According to Iran’s Tasnim news agency, “the suspect was arrested in a rural area west of Tehran during the 12-day conflict between Iran and Israel in June.”
Authorities claimed he provided images and sensitive intelligence on strategic sites to Israel’s Mossad.
Iranian officials say several individuals have been detained on suspicion of espionage following the June hostilities, with unverified reports suggesting that more than 10 people may have been executed.
Human rights groups have repeatedly condemned Iran’s use of the death penalty, arguing that it is often used to suppress dissent.
Data from the United Nations indicates that over 1,000 executions were carried out in Iran in 2025.
