A security and intelligence analyst, Dr Sani Aliyu, has said that he would not mind if the government use payment of ransom to bandits to track them.
Aliyu made this statement on Friday in an interview on Trust TV while speaking on the wave of insecurity bedeviling Nigeria.
He was reacting to ransom claims and the pressure for the United States on Nigeria to address insecurity.
He, however, criticized the lack of arrests for individuals involved in financial transactions related to kidnapping ransoms in Nigeria, despite the use of banks and telecommunications.
He also referenced former President Jonathan’s allegation of Boko Haram infiltration within the presidency, citing instances where confidential discussions became public knowledge as evidence of internal compromise.
“I wouldn’t mind if the government paid ransom to bandits and then tracked and rounded them up at the spending end.
“This is strategic. Use the Interpol and other channels to trace, communicate, and apprehend them at the point of spending.
“Such monies are spent without any arrest. The go scot-free. I think it’s very disturbing,” he said.
