2025 USA BIAFRAN HEROES CELEBRATION WAS A BANGER

Biafran heroes memorial day 2025 was celebrated in a grand style in New Jersey, USA as indigenes of the former Eastern Nigeria (Biafra), Nigerians, Africans and the many from other parts of the world gathered together to honor the heroes.

The event was hosted by IPOB New Jersey and coordinated by “Ebube Biafra” (Friday Val Ofor).

At the event, various people spoke to the audience about Biafra and the need to keep on remembering the heroes of the 1967-1970 Nigeria’sgenocidal war against Biafra. Rev Fr. Augustine Ọdịmmegwa stated that Victory is sure and close by, adding in Igbo Language, “Ma Britain Ekwere Ma Britain Ekwehụụ. Ma America Ekwere, ma America Ekwehụụ..” He also took a little time out to eulogise Mazị Nnamdi Kanụ, the Leader of the Indigenous People OF Biafra (IPOB) who is currently incarcerated and undergoing trial on terrorism charges in Nigeria despite the demand by the U.N and international community that he not be tried in/by Nigeria since he was extra-ordinarily renditioned into Nigeria from Kenya by Nigerian and suspected Kenyan authorities. Fr Ọdịmmegwa said, “..and for our leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu; I’ve never met an amazing human being as he is before in my life. I had never imagined or dreamt of meating any human being as great as Mazi Nnamdi Kanu..”

Fiday Val Ofor stated, “We wanted this year’s event to be unique, so we invited some of our living veterans and had them decorated. It’s our own way of saying ‘thanks’ to them for their sacrifices and service…”

Mazị Ume Ọpara praised the veterans, saying that “because of them, many of us are alive today. They sacrificed their lives and comfort so others could live. Many of them joined the Army wearing Slippers because they couldn’t afford shoes…”

Mazị Chijioke Onyechege, IPOB’s New Jersey, USA zonal coordinator, expressed satisfaction with the event and encouraged Biafrans “all over the world to keep on celebrating the Biafran heroes day to help keep alive the memories of our heroes and their sacrifices”.

We4We Media and Val Media CEO, Val “Frakas Mo’Fire Amadị, pointed out the importance of memorializing the heroes of Nigeria’s genocidal war against the Biafrans He praised those who “weren’t indigenously Biafrans but served diligently on the side of Biafra. The likes of the American, David Koren, who flew airlift missions to help starving Biafran kids and defenseless civilians. I personally salute the service and sacrifices of my uncle, Capt Auguste Okpe, one of the top commanders of the Biafran Airforce, and the author of the book, “The Last flight”

Prof Al Ọnwụzuruike, a community leader and educator, encouraged the people to help maintain positivity and happiness in whatever they do, stressing that “a happy heart will always achieve enormously…”

Igwe Nkem Ọnụmara, the Leader Of Igbo Solidarity Movement, was appreciative of the people’s “commitment to make sure that the memories of our heroes remain fresh in our minds from generation to generation..”

Brigadier-General Titus “Mmagha” Osuagwụ a United Nations affiliated J.P and, a diaspora community leader, and a decorated Biafran war veteran was among the veterans that were honored and decorated by the organizers.

Major Michael Chukwuma (a.k.a Uhuru Jazz) Okeke of the Biafran Army’s 21st Batalion Engineering Corps, in the company of his wife and two sons – soccer Coach Stanley Okeke & Eberechi “Currency 1 of Ehime Mbanọ” Okeke (CEO of Amanda Care Properties, Currency Tax Services and others) was one of the veterans decorated.

Mazị Canice Ibe, another veteran who served gallantly, was also amongst the appreciated and decorated soldiers.

Benjamin Yugos “Ala Owerri” Ọnyịrịụka, whose dad was a decorated Biafran Veteran was at the event and said he would do his best every year to spread the good news about the yearly gathering, hoping to help spread the essence of the celebration and to get more younger people involved in the organizing of future events.

Chidị Stormy Ụkazụ (Sound Sultan) and the freedom band provided musical entertainment to the satisfaction of the house.

Apostle Peter Okwute Onyekaomelu, Elder Chika Ọnwụkaife, Chief Mrs Victoria Orisakwe, Stanley Obi, and many others also graced the occasion.
