Police arrest notorious thug Auwalu Dan Baba in Kano

The Kano State Police Command has apprehended a well-known thug, Auwalu Ali, also called Auwalu Dan Baba, following a coordinated intelligence-driven operation in the Dorayi area of Kano metropolis.

In a statement released by the Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, the suspect, aged 26, was taken into custody on January 31, 2026, by officers from the Dorayi Police Division.

The police described Auwalu as someone who “has a history of coordinating and organising thuggery groups to attack and rob innocent citizens.”

The Command also revealed details of another incident in Sharada Quarters, where officers responded to an emergency call involving a suspected armed robber who was reportedly beaten to death by an angry mob.

According to the police, the incident occurred after an attack that left a woman critically wounded.

“The victim was rushed to Murtala Mohammed Specialist Hospital, Kano, where a police officer selflessly donated blood, saving her life,” the statement said.

Reacting to the development, the Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, commended the officers for what he termed their “sacrifice and professionalism,” especially the act of blood donation. He also thanked residents for their “continued support and cooperation.”
