Naira appreciates against US dollar as external reserves hit $43.28bn

The Naira appreciated on Thursday against the United States dollar at the official foreign exchange market for the second time this week as the country’s external reserves rose to $43.27 billion.

The Central Bank of Nigeria’s foreign exchange data showed that the Naira strengthened on Thursday to N1,436.74 against the dollar, up from N1,438.49 on Wednesday.

This means that the Naira gained N1.76 against the dollar on a day-to-day basis.

At the black market, the Naira also firmed up to N1,445 per dollar on Thursday, up from N1,450 traded on Wednesday, multiple Bureau De Change operators in Wuse Zone 4, Abuja.

In the last four days this week, we reported that the Naira closed the FX market with mixed sentiments: two gains and losses.

The development comes as the country’s external reserves stood at $43.28 billion as of November 4, 2025.
