Uzodinma has saved Imo N900m — Aide

The Special Adviser to the Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodinma, on Political Matters, Mr. Batos Nwadike, has revealed that the administration has saved N900m from the state wage bill.

Nwadike, who spoke to journalists in Owerri, on Saturday, said those who hitherto misappropriated state funds would go to jail.

The governor’s aide explained that the N900m was saved from the discovery of ghost workers in the state’s payroll.

Nwadike said, “This is a governor who means well for Imo people. He has written to EFCC to open an office in Imo state. Those who misappropriated the funds of the state would soon become guests to the EFCC and probably will go to jail.

“This administration has saved N900m from the Imo wage bill from ghost and over-bloated workers at the LGA level, fraud in the payment of salaries and pensions. He has drastically reduced the cost of governance in the state.”

He also announced that the Uzodinma administration was going ahead with the probe of the alleged misappropriation of N19b by the immediate past administration.

According to him, while the governor has upheld the Single Treasury Account, he rejected the handling of state resources by consultancy firms.
