Dr Ikem Chukwuneke responds to Ritchie Ejiofor’s article, “Nuremberg OutComing and the political blunder:Matters Arising”

In response to the article, ‘Nuremberg OutComing and the political blunder: Matters Arising’ by Ritchie Ejiofor (https://we4wereports.com/nuremberg-outcoming-and-the-political-blunder-matters-arising-ritchie-ejiofor/), I believe the  author misunderstood the Biafran struggle as epitomized by IPOB and would like to correct some misconceptions or misrepresentations.

Sir Ritchie, while I commend you for a great write up in which your stand was well articulated, I wish to respectfully disagree with you on some assertions you made.

Also, just like you, I’m not an IPOB member, but unlike you I endorse their actions for now because our people are being killed and the government is not doing anything to stop it!! Do you think mere rhetorics is going to stop the killings??

I disagree with your writing based on these facts:

1. That IPOB pelting of Ekweremmadu with eggs and tearing his clothes justifies the government categorizing them as a terrorist organization. If that’s the case, where will you categorize the Fulani Jihadists? Also, why is the government of the day not addressing the Fulani marauders who have killed, maimed, kidnapped or dislocated many Nigerian communities as terrorists?

Are you also aware that the UK prime minister was recently pelted with rotten tomatoes and eggs in the UK?

2. How many Nigerians has N.K or IPOB killed in Nigeria?

3. Has any IPOB member been caught wielding any arms or threatened to kill Nigerians? Why are the Fulani herders allowed to openly and brazenly wield arms?

4. What has the government done to Miyetti Allah who openly threatened to kill?

5. Are you aware that the WIC that you mentioned have endorsed N.K and IPOB?

6.Tell me what Ohaneze or other Igbo socio-cultural groups have done to stop all the Fulani herders(Jihadist) killings in the S.E?

7. You said N.K has dictatorial tendencies. But you failed to elaborate. He enjoys wide and fanatical followership simply because he’s very tenacious in his belief of Igbo freedom and is yet to compromise, succumb to pressure or fear! Other groups you mentioned are not enjoying such followership because they’ve compromised!!

Igbos don’t follow anybody sheepishly, you are always viewed and analyzed with microscopic lens!! If he compromises the struggle, trust me, he will be abandoned like Uwazuruike.

8. You also said N.K stopped PDP from winning the presidential election because he insisted Atiku was a Cameroonian thereby acting as a mole for the APC. This is totally absurd because his stand was a total boycott of the election in its entirety because he believes the election will be rigged. Also, was there really an election in Nigeria?

9. You also mentioned that there may be a miscarriage of justice whereby innocent politicians may be victimized. But so far, that has not happened which shows that IPOB are well organized.

10. You also mentioned discrimination amongst Igbos and cited Bianca as a case in point. My response is that the people have a right to choose who they want to represent them.

It’s very pertinent to establish that IPOB is a non violent, BIAFRAN pressure group whose motive is aimed in creating a just, fair and equitable society where it’s people are treated as co-equals with inalienable rights to life and property. Since their inception till date they’ve not been indicted for any killing whatsoever but have expressed their right to freedom of speech and association through it’s leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.

Finally, I would advice a wholistic approach to your views and writings. If you say N.K has a right to freedom of speech and on another vein criticize what he says, that’s putting the reader at a dilemma.
