Omoyele Sowore Arrested in Nigeria by Nigeria’s DSS in the early hours of Saturday, August 3, 2019

Men of the Nigeria’s D.S.S (Department of State Security) stormed Omoyele Sowore’s abode in the early hours of Saturday, August 3, 2019, arrested and took him away with them.

Sowore did send out what appeared to be a distress tweet from his Twitter handle as he was being taken away as confirmed by one of the eyewitnesses at the scene of the arrest. One of the tweets simply read, “ja ap”, a hardly discernable phrase that clearly suggests it was sent under pressure.. A clearer tweet read, “D.S.S invades Sowore’s”

We4WeREPORTS.Com reached out to the D.S.S for comments on the arrest. An operative who refused to be identified because she doesn’t speak officially for the D.S.S did confirm that Sowore had indeed been taken into custody and referred us to an official spokesperson whom she said would be able to speak with us later in the day.

Regina, an activist with Sowore’s #TakeitbackMovement and one of the organizer’s of the Aug 5, 2019 planned #RevolutionNow protest said that “the D.S.S and the NIgerian government can arrest Sowore but that can never stop the revolution and the protests must go on.

Former presidential candidate, Oby Ezekwesili, among others have responded to the arrest and demanded for his immediate release by the Buhari lead administration.

Sowore startedS Reporters media outfit in 2005. He joined the political movement in 2018, first as the leader of the #TakeitbackMovement and later as the founder and leader of African Action Congress (A.A.C) under whose umbrella he ran Unsuccessfully for president of Nigeria. Of late, he’s been calling for a revolution to help change things around in NIgeria and it is widely believed that his arrest was about his involvement in the planned protests that promised to be held in over 20 Nigerian cities.

Sowore met with Nnamdi Kanu last month in New York as Kanu wrapped up his U.S tour with a townhall Meeting in New York. The meeting sparked speculations that Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People Of Biafra (IPOB) is teaming up with Sowore to conduct a Nationwide revolution that would shake up the entire Nation. They both believe that NIgeria is long overdue for a revolution. They wish for the people to wake up and demand better governance from the politicians.
