COVID-19 death toll rises in Lagos as State confirms no new case

Lagos State, on Tuesday, confirmed the death of a 45-year-old and 36-year-old Nigerian COVID-19 patients.

The State’s Commissioner for Health, Prof Akin Abayomi also confirmed that it recorded no case on Monday.

Abayomi said Lagos State has so far recorded 16 coronavirus deaths.

Recall that while the NCDC confirmed new cases in Kano, Gombe, Abia, Kaduna and FCT on Monday night, Lagos State surprisingly recorded no case.

Nigeria now has a total of 655 confirmed cases in the country.

Abayomi tweeted, “No new case of #COVID19 was confirmed in Lagos on 20th April, 2020.

“However, #COVID19 related deaths were recorded in Lagos. One of the deceased was a 45 years old Nigerian male who returned from India in January, 2020.”

“The second death involved a 36 year old Nigerian; female with severe underlying health condition. She had no history of travel or contact with any #COVID19 confirmed case.

“Total number of #COVID19 related deaths in Lagos now stands at 16.”
