Deputy Mayor, City of Newark, New Jersey, USA

We4WeREPORTS.com had a sit down with Hon. Ugochukwu Nwaokoro, Deputy Mayor of the City of Newark, New Jersey. USA. He is the first indigenous born African to become a deputy Mayor in a major U.S city. An illustrious Nigerian American, he has always been there to help Africans in the diaspora to coordinate their lives and livelihood. He’s also helped in several ways to bring closer to the diaspora some of Nigeria’s political figures so the diaspora residents can always have a closer look at them in order to make more informed decisions and get more involved in affairs of the Home base.

Our reporters caught a chat with him on one of the most pressing issues today in the South Eastern part of Nigeria – The elections boycott order by Nnamdi Kanu, Leader of the Indigenous People Of Biafra (I.P.O.B).

Enjoy the interview;

We4WeREPORTS.com:
Thank you for granting us this interview. we do appreciate.

Ugochukwu Nwaokoro:
It’s my pleasure. I like to be there always for the affairs of my people.

We4WeREPORTS.com:
Without taking too much of your time, let me go straight to the point. What is really happening in the South East region of Nigeria with this elections boycott story by Nnamdi Kanu and the IPOB?

Ugochukwu Nwaokoro:
The real question should be
‘Who does Nnamdi Kanu really work for?’

To answer this question, one has to look forensically at all the things that Nnamdi Kanu has done most recently and figure out who has truly benefited from them!

At the pinnacle of the popularity of IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu called for the boycott of the last gubernatorial election in Anambra State, since the Federal Government of Nigeria did not include the Biafran referendum in the ballot as demanded by Nnamdi Kanu and IPOB. He asked Anambra voters to sit at home and not to participate in the elections, that they should instead cook ‘ofe nsala’ and eat with their families! .

People like myself condemned in its totality the ill-informed and ill-conceived advice to boycott the Anambra election. I personally made efforts and contacted the leadership of IPOB including Nnamdi Kanu, advising them to call off the sit-at-home order and to channel their efforts using the enormous popularity that IPOB was enjoying at the time in the whole of Southeast Nigeria toward supporting any one of the gubernatorial candidates sympathetic to the agitations of IPOB.

We4WeREPORTS.com:
A lot of people were very disappointed with their position on the Anambra elections issue.

Ugochukwu Nwaokoro:
I reminded the leadership of IPOB that whether they participate in the election or not, come the day after the Anambra gubernatorial election, the governor would be reelected or a new governor would emerge for Anambra State.

Nnamdi Kanu did not have plans on what to do the day after his sit-at-home and eat-ofe-nsala order, because he didn’t care much about the outcome. Obviously, he was not working for a Biafran agenda; rather, as is now evident, he was working for his selfish interest and to reelect Governor Willie Obiano, which as projected to help the reelection campaign of President Buhari come 2019.

We4WeREPORTS.com:
Hon. Mayor, some people have actually been insinuating that Nnamdi Kanu could actually be working for the Buhari and APC government. Are you threading along those lines?

Hon Ugochukwu Nwaokoro:
It is no coincidence that Gov. Obiano is now supporting President Buhari for re-election, because this has always been the plan with Nnamdi Kanu and his sit-at-home order. Having achieved a success with the sit-at-home order to re-elect Willie Obiano, they are now applying the same tactic to boycott the forthcoming general elections in order to help reelect President Buhari.

Ugochukwu Nwaokoro
Deputy Mayor, City of Newark, New Jersey, USA

We4WeREPORTS.com:
But how, sir? What was the intended mechanism of action?

Ugochukwu Nwaokoro:
How? They know that the Southeast zone will overwhelmingly vote for the Atiku/Obi ticket. Any boycott favors President Buhari.

We4WeREPORTS.com:
Let’s say he, Nnamdi has brainwashed his followers. They are still our brothers and Sisters and we would like them to be corrected. So, how can we begin to help them come off of that and redirect them towards participating in the upcoming elections?

Ugochukwu Nwaokoro:
Nnamdi Kanu’s supporters should ask themselves these questions:

1. What did IPOB benefit from Anambra election boycott? Nothing!

2. What will IPOB benefit from the call to boycott the 2019 general elections? Nothing!

We4WeREPORTS.com:
Do you think the supporters haven’t really been asking him questions or at least wondering where their leadership train is going?

Ugochukwu Nwaokoro:
Why are the supporters of Nnamdi Kanu not asking these other questions?

1. They should ask Nnamdi Kanu whom he is truly working for? Who helped him to escape from Nigeria after the deadly Python Dance?

2. Why isn’t Nnamdi Kanu telling us more about the Sudanese Jibril who was doubling as President Buhari?

We4WeREPORTS.com:
You are really hitting at some awakening chords over here. A lot of people within the IPOB family would hopefully be reformed by this.

Ugochukwu Nwaokoro:
Nnamdi Kanu promised to expose Jibril and the Buhari cabal before the 2019 presidential election, why hasn’t Nnamdi Kanu done that?

As much as it’s a known practice by world leaders to have body doubles from time to time, and the so-called Jibril from Sudan could be Buhari’s body double, but President Buhari is not dead, and Nnamdi Kanu and the members of Buhari cabal know that’s just a ploy to deceive and confuse our people, especially those of us from the Southeast, who support Nnamdi Kanu unconditionally.

It is now clear to Nigerians and the whole world that the man campaigning as the presidential candidate of APC and making all the campaign gaffes is definitely President Muhammadu Buhari, who is showing and displaying signs of memory loss and mental instability. Why isn’t anybody asking Nnamdi Kanu about Jibril anymore? Or, is it still Jibril that’s the presidential candidate of APC?

We4WeREPORTS.com:
Sir, we have come across reports that Willie Obiano and others believe that the surest way to attaining an Igbo presidency is by supporting Buhari now so he can help the Igbos in 2023

Ugochukwu Nwaokoro:
For Governor Obiano, other Southeastern governors and some so-called Igbo leaders who think that presidency for the Southeast will be achieved by supporting President Buhari for reelection in 2019, and then President Buhari will in turn support them for the presidency after his second term in 2023, they must be living in a fool’s paradise to believe that President Buhari will give them the presidency. Do they really think that Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Vice President Yemi Osibanjo and the Yoruba will sit quietly and let that happen?

Wr4WeREPORTS.com:
Woohhh. That would be very interesting.

Ugochukwu Nwaokoro:
How will President Buhari if re-elected with Vice President Osibanjo on the same ticket, turnaround and support somebody else for the presidency in 2023 other than V.P. Osibanjo, who has loyally served him as V.P., just because he wants the presidency to go to Nd’Igbo? The same Buhari that told the people of South East that he could not find an Igbo person with the merits to be appointed a service chief! I will not even be surprised that come 2023 both President Buhari and the northern cabal will not even support V.P. Osibanjo, but rather will rally behind another northerner to challenge V.P. Osibanjo for the APC presidential ticket, to keep with the northern agenda as evidenced by the appointment of the people from the north to occupy the heads of almost all the law enforcement agencies!

We4WeREPORTS.com:
So, what’s the way forward?

Ugochukwu Nwaokoro:
If Governor Obiano, the other South Eastern governors who are secretly supporting President Buhari’s re-election campaign, and Nnamdi Kanu, truly believe in Igbo presidency, why aren’t they supporting former Anambra Gov. Peter Obi on the Atiku/Obi PDP presidential ticket? Mr. Obi as governor of Anambra performed meritoriously and is on record as one of the most honest Nigerian politicians alive today, and one will think that he does not only deserves the support of these people, but he has earned the support of every voter from the South East. So, why isn’t Peter Obi getting the support of these people? The answer to this question could be traced to the selfish interests and ambitions of these individuals, who think that Obi becoming the Vice President will alter their individual interests.

We4WeREPORTS.com:
The whole scenario is really very sad.

Ugochukwu Nwaokoro:
Sad indeed! Now that the evidence has shown that Governor Obiano, the other South Eastern governors, Nnamdi Kanu and some Igbo leaders are really not working for the interest of Nd’Igbo, what should they do regarding the forthcoming general elections? The South Easterners must make sure to secure their PVCs and make sure to come out to vote their conscience. People of South East must disregard the sit at home call by Nnamdi Kanu and IPOB to boycott the general elections, and come out to vote, irrespective of who they want to vote for, as long as they are voting their conscience and not being influenced by sentiments and material things, do not sell your votes.

IPOB members and supporters should know that whether they sit at home or not, the elections will still go on and winners will emerge, and just not who they want. Sit at home and boycott did not work for them in Anambra gubernatorial elections, and it will not work for them again in the general elections if they decide to embark on the same tactics. People of South East must realize that Referendum and Restructuring start at the legislative arm of government and having law makers who are sympathetic to your cause makes it easier to achieve.

We4WeREPORTS.com:
The people do seem to be getring more aware and more involved in these elections.

Ugochukwu Nwaokoro;
The people of South East are smarter than vote buying and being cajoled with material things to vote for candidates that they know do not represent their interests. I am not saying that voters should not take the money when offered, they should take the money, but vote their conscience on election day bearing in mind that their future and that of their children and grandchildren is at stake. The voters should take the money because it is their money that was stolen by the corrupt politicians in the first place.

We4WeREPORTS.com:
So, It’s pretty obvious that you are very serious about this anti elections boycotts stand.

Ugochukwu Nwaokoro:
I am very serious about the anti-boycott movement, because of the dire consequences it will have against Ndi’Igbo, and that’s the chance I am not willing to take, and I advice all sons and daughters of Ala’Igbo to do the same and speak up against the election boycott. So, on election day, the people of Southeast must disregard the sit-at-home and eat “ofe Okazi” call by Nnamdi Kanu and IPOB to boycott the general elections and come out to vote, and make a statement with their votes! Please do NOT boycott the general elections.

The sit-at-home and eat “ofe nsala” call by Nnamdi Kanu and IPOB to boycott the last Anambra gubernatorial election failed woefully for IPOB and supporters, but benefited the re-election of Gov. Obiano. The sit-at-home and eat “ofe okazi” call by Nnamdi Kanu and IPOB to boycott the general elections will even fail more woefully, but with a more dire consequence for Nd’Igbo, it will only help Gov. Obiano and his team’s support for the re-election campaign of President Buhari. It will only help to suppress the voice and votes of Nd’Igbo for the re-election of President Buhari.

It is not about who Nd’Igbo vote for, but, that Nd’Igbo go to the polling booths well informed on who the candidates are and what they stand for.

So, on February 16, 2019, Nd’Igbo must disregard the sit-at-home and eat “ofe okazi” boycott call by Nnamdi Kanu and IPOB and come out in high numbers to vote for whoever they want and make a statement with their votes!

We4WeREPORTS.com:
We thank you once again sir for sharing your time with us and we look forward to having further conversations with you, especially right after the elections and the announcement of a winner.

Ugochukwu Nwaokoro:
You are welcome and thank you for stopping by, keep up your good work!
