Former Anambra State Governor and Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has said Nigerian communities can achieve meaningful and lasting development if they are guided by the right leadership.
Obi said this on Friday while sharing details of his engagements with residents and political stakeholders in parts of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) ahead of the February 21 Area Council elections.
According to him, he visited Kubwa in Bwari Area Council, where he joined Hon. Josiah Koche, the African Democratic Congress (ADC) chairmanship candidate, to interact directly with residents as part of ongoing campaign activities.
He also said he later moved to Gui Ward in Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), where he met with the Bassa Royal Father and members of the community alongside Dr Moses Paul, the ADC chairmanship candidate for AMAC.
Obi explained that the meetings focused on listening to the concerns of the people, sharing ideas, and promoting leadership built on competence, compassion, and accountability.
“As always, the engagement was about listening to the people and exchanging ideas grounded in competence, compassion, and accountability,” he said.
He added that people-centred governance remains key to national development.
He stressed that progress is possible when leaders are committed to serving the interests of the people.
“I remain firmly convinced that with the right leadership and people-centred governance, our communities can achieve meaningful and sustainable progress.”
