Four arrested for impersonating FCT Minister Wike

Four men have been arrested by the police for allegedly impersonating the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, in order to defraud victims of over N150 million.

One of the suspects, identified as Yashim Kajang, was arrested on Tuesday in Abuja.
He is accused of deceiving a retired military officer, Major General A.K. Ibrahim, and others with a fake land deal.

According to investigators, Kajang allegedly claimed he had connections with the FCT Minister and officials in the Department of Lands.
He reportedly collected large sums of money from victims, promising to secure land documents for Plot 1985 located in Guzape II Cadastral Zone.

“He made the victims believe he was working with top government officials and could facilitate the allocation of land,” a source said.

During interrogation, Kajang reportedly named three accomplices, Stephen Mhambe, Danladi Jatau, and Terngu Ipaven, who were later arrested.

“Yashim Kajang admitted that his accomplices supplied him with data and details of lands used in the fraudulent transactions,” an update from Lere Olayinka, Wike’s aide added.

According to the update, all four suspects are currently in custody, and investigations are ongoing.
